Q-CHEM PARTICIPATES IN WFE FOR A CLEANER WORLD
Qatar Chemical Company Ltd. (Q-Chem) has joined forces with its partners in the seventh edition of the 'Waste-Free Environment' campaign (WFE). The event took place from 3 to 7 March 2019.
WFE is organized across the region and the world, the campaign engages diverse stakeholders, including government entities, industrial sectors, educational institutions, and their wider communities.
"At Q-Chem we are committed in protecting and eliminating the impact of our activities, operations, and products on the environment," said Nasser J. Al Kuwari, CEO of Q-Chem.
The initiative is an important regional driver. It aims to strengthen the concepts of sustainability and conservation of resources.
This year, WFE focused the efforts towards the impact of recycling plastic, endeavoring to foster collective responsibility. The campaign complements to the UN's sustainable development goals. It promotes sustainability, preserves the oceans, and encourages the responsible and efficient use of resources and energy.
The campaign included diverse educational and awareness programs and visits to several educational institutions and local communities. Covering all school levels, the participants successfully raised awareness of diverse environmental concerns and highlighted safe recycling and responsible litter disposal.
Waste disposal poses one of the big challenges of our time. Initiatives such as the WFE campaign strengthens Q-Chem's efforts toward a cleaner world.
The five-day campaign concluded with a beach cleaning at Al-Wakrah Family Beach on Thursday, 7 March 2019. Schools, municipalities, contractors, and senior management from participating entities had actively participated.
