Q-CHEM PARTICIPATES IN A NATIONWIDE 'WASTE-FREE CAMPAIGN'
25 February 2018

Qatar Chemical Company Ltd. (Q-Chem) has joined forces with its partners in the sixth edition of the 'Waste-Free Environment' campaign (WFE).

The WFE is an environmental initiative launched by the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) and is dedicated towards promoting both responsible disposal of waste, as well as returning our local environments to their beautiful pristine state.

Taking place from 18 to 22 February 2018 across the region and the world, the campaign engaged diverse stakeholders, including government entities, industrial sectors, educational institutions, and their wider communities.

This award-winning campaign is consistent with Q-Chem's values. "We're committed to preserving the safety of people, communities, and the environment. The initiative is an important regional driver. It aims to strengthen the concept of sustainability and the conservation of resources," said Nasser J. Al Kuwari, CEO of Q-Chem.

This year, WFE focused on the impact of recycling plastic, endeavoring to foster collective responsibility. The campaign contributes to the UN's sustainable development goals. It promotes sustainability, preserves the oceans, and encourages the responsible and efficient use of resources and energy.

"Together with our partners, we visited several educational institutions and local communities. Covering all school levels, our 'ambassadors' successfully raised awareness of diverse environmental concerns, highlighting the most pressing issues—recycling and responsible litter disposal. And, of course, plastic is the main focus when tackling environmental issues. Ultimately, our efforts will help implant 'sustainability' as a core cultural value in our community," said Al Kuwari.

The efforts concluded with a beach clean-up campaign at Al-Wakrah Family Beach on Thursday, 22 February 2018. Schools, municipalities, contractors, and senior management from participating entities attended.

"Q-Chem is committed to efficient waste management and reduction. Waste disposal poses one of the big challenges of our time. Initiatives such as the WFE campaign strengthen our efforts toward this end—a cleaner world. They help cultivate a culture of sustainability among the young generations," concluded Al Kuwari.
